The United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of General Counsel seeks applications for its Honors Fellowship Program only from:
  • law students at accredited law schools graduating by May 2014
  • current judicial clerks recently graduated from accredited law schools
The Fellowship begins in September, 2014, and the Fellow is expected to commit to a two-year term. A new Fellow will be hired each year, and thus two Fellows serve concurrently.

NRDC engages in litigation, lobbying, scientific research, and public education on air, water, public health, climate change, energy, public lands, wildlife protection, smart growth, international, urban, environmental justice, and nuclear issues. NRDC employs more than 430 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy and communications experts, and others, and has offices in New York; Washington, DC; Chicago; San Francisco; Santa Monica, California; Livingston, Montana; and Beijing, China.

Position Summary:

We seek an Attorney to investigate and litigate complex, innovative cases to protect public health and the environment, on behalf of and in collaboration with both NRDC and outside clients. The Attorney will be a member of the new Chicago branch of NRDC’s Litigation Team; the Team consists of approximately a dozen full-time litigators and four legal assistants who work out of NRDC’s New York, Washington, DC, San Francisco, and Chicago offices. The position is for a two-year commitment with an opportunity for permanent employment.  The position will be open in early May, but the exact start date is negotiable.

Law Fellow - Los Angeles Waterkeeper

Joe Melchione was a member of Waterkeeper's Board of Directors from 2008 until his passing in April 2012. Joe was a champion for clean water and healthy oceans. He was an avid surfer, and was very concerned with the public health of recreational users in the bay. As an attorney, he was especially supportive of the litigation and advocacy work of the Los Angeles Waterkeeper. In memory of Joe and in honor of all that he contributed, Waterkeeper established this one-year fellowship to continue the efforts that made Joe proud to be a member of the Waterkeeper family.
